LEDES 2000 Overview
LEDES 2000 is the successor to, but not a modification of, LEDES 1998B. Ledes 2000 significantly increases the information available to a corporate client by a law firm and brings ebilling to the next level. LEDES 2000 was revised in 2004 and 2005 when issues within the document were noted. The documentation presented here contains those revisions.
The LEDES 2000 format will not be modified again by the LOC. It was decommissioned by the LOC in 2006 when the membership ratified a modification to LEDES 2000 called LEDES XML Ebilling Ver. 2. It is presented here for archival purposes and as a reference for law firms and systems still using the format.
